Desktop apps
Gabble on your computer
Its own window and icon, desktop notifications and an unread count, even with your browser closed. Free, like everything else on Gabble.
Mac
macOS 13 or newer · Apple silicon and Intel
Download for Mac.zip · 0.3 MB- Open the zip and drag Gabble into Applications.
- The first time, macOS may say it can't check the app because it's not from the App Store. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and press Open Anyway.
- Closing the window keeps Gabble running so messages still reach you. Quit with ⌘Q.
Windows
Windows 10 and 11 · 64-bit
Download for Windows.zip · 43 MB- Unzip it and run Gabble.exe. Nothing else to install.
- If Windows says it protected your PC, press More info → Run anyway. That shows up for new apps that aren't from the Microsoft Store.
- Closing the window keeps Gabble in the tray by the clock. Right-click it to quit.
Linux
Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, Fedora, Arch and more
Download .debDownload .tar.gz- Ubuntu, Debian or Mint: run
sudo apt install ./gabble_1.0.1_all.debin the folder you saved it to. - Other distros: unpack the .tar.gz and run
./install.sh. It tells you which packages to add if any are missing. - Open Gabble from your app menu.
Good to know
- The apps open the same Gabble you use in your browser, so your servers, chats and settings are all there.
- You can sign in to several accounts and switch between them from your name in the top-right.
- Log in with Discord or a passkey from the app: it opens your browser for a moment, then brings you straight back signed in.
- The apps are free with no ads, like the rest of Gabble. Questions? Ask in Gabble HQ.
